LEDs, Buzzer & Indicators

SAMPATHI 1 includes visual and audible indicators to help users understand the FCU’s status during power-up, configuration, and flight preparation.

These indicators are designed to provide clear feedback without requiring a computer connection.

Status LEDs Overview

SAMPATHI 1 is equipped with onboard status LEDs that indicate the general operating state of the FCU.

Status LEDs are used to show:

  • Power and boot status
  • Firmware running state
  • Error or fault conditions
  • Connection and readiness information

The exact LED behaviour may vary slightly depending on firmware version.

Common LED States

Typical LED indications include:

  • Power On / Boot
Indicates the FCU is receiving power and starting up

  • Normal Operation
Indicates the FCU has booted successfully and is running firmware

  • Error or Fault
Indicates an issue such as configuration error, sensor fault, or startup failure

If LEDs show unexpected behaviour, disconnect power and review the Troubleshooting section.

LED Behaviour During USB Connection

When connected to a computer via USB:

  • LEDs may indicate configuration mode
  • Activity may change when Betaflight Configurator is connected
  • Temporary LED changes during firmware flashing are normal

Do not disconnect power while firmware flashing is in progress.

Buzzer Support

SAMPATHI 1 supports an external buzzer for audible alerts.

The buzzer is used for:

  • Startup confirmation
  • Arming and disarming feedback
  • Failsafe or error alerts
  • Lost model indication (if enabled)

Connecting a Buzzer

  • Connect a compatible buzzer to the designated buzzer connector or pads
  • Ensure correct polarity if applicable
  • Secure the buzzer to prevent vibration-related failures

Configuring Buzzer Alerts in Betaflight

To configure buzzer behaviour:

  • Open Betaflight Configurator
  • Go to the Modes tab
  • Assign a switch for buzzer functions if desired
  • Save and reboot

Additional buzzer alerts may be enabled or disabled in the Configuration tab.

Understanding Buzzer Alerts

Common buzzer alerts include:

  • Startup tone – FCU has powered on
  • Arming/disarming tones – Aircraft state change
  • Failsafe alerts – Signal loss or critical condition
  • Lost model beeper – Helps locate the aircraft after landing or crash

Refer to the Troubleshooting section if buzzer alerts occur unexpectedly.

Best Practices for Indicators

  • Do not ignore repeated error indications
  • Familiarize yourself with normal LED and buzzer behaviour before flight
  • Use audible alerts cautiously in noise-sensitive environments

When Indicators Are Not Working

If LEDs or buzzer do not operate as expected:

  • Confirm firmware is running correctly
  • Check power connections
  • Verify configuration settings in Betaflight
  • Review the Troubleshooting section
