Basic Betaflight Setup

This section covers the essential configuration steps required to prepare SAMPATHI 1 for flight.


Initial Connection

  • Connect SAMPATHI 1 to your computer via USB
  • Open Betaflight Configurator
  • Select the detected port
  • Click Connect

ℹ️ Once connected, the live sensor data screen should appear.


Configuration Overview

At a minimum, the following Betaflight areas should be reviewed:

  • Setup
  • Ports
  • Configuration
  • Receiver
  • Motors
  • Failsafe

You do not need to configure advanced features to begin.


Board Orientation

  • Verify that the on-screen 3D model moves correctly when you tilt the FCU

If the movement does not match physical motion:

  • Adjust board orientation settings in the Setup tab
  • Save and reboot

⚠️ Correct orientation is critical for stable flight.


Receiver Setup

  • Connect your receiver to the FCU
  • Open the Receiver tab

Verify:

  • Channels respond correctly
  • Stick directions are correct
  • RSSI (if used) is detected

Do not proceed to motor testing until receiver input is confirmed.


Motor Configuration (Safety First)

⚠️ Remove propellers before motor testing.

  • Open the Motors tab
  • Enable motor test mode
  • Test motors one by one
  • Verify correct motor order and rotation direction

Correct motor configuration is mandatory before flight.


Failsafe Configuration

  • Ensure a failsafe action is configured
  • Verify behaviour by switching off the transmitter during testing
  • Never fly without a verified failsafe
